Seeking therapy can be a great step toward improving your personal well-being — and your sleep. As a licensed psychologist with board certification in behavioral sleep medicine, I specialize in effective and collaborative treatments for sleep problems and the anxiety, stress and burnout that often come with sleepless nights. I offer therapy services in the following areas:
Whether you are struggling with falling asleep, staying asleep, sleeping too much, sleeping at the wrong times, or experiencing recurring nightmares, I can offer evidence based treatments that can bring you relief. Behavioral sleep interventions are often short-term treatments (6 to 10 sessions, give or take) that teach you new skills to implement at home to get you sleeping better on a more regular basis.
Maybe you’ve found yourself struggling lately with motivation, feeling sad, low or irritable, having trouble concentrating and just not feeling like you’re getting much joy out of life. Or maybe you’re feeling worried, tense, and uneasy and struggling to get through your days and nights without feeling chronically on-edge. These can be symptoms of depression and anxiety, which can interfere with your everyday life – and your sleep. My approach to treating anxiety and depression is an integrative technique pulling from cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, and mindfulness-based approaches to help you improve your mood, reduce worry and stress, and help you get back to living your life.
The transition to menopause can be an intensely stressful time marked by unpredictable hormonal fluctuations and major life transitions. Having worked with perimenopausal women through my own NIMH-funded research study, I am passionate about providing support to women navigating this often complicated period of life. Sessions may involve acceptance and commitment and mindfulness-based approaches for managing stress, depression and anxiety, as well as behavioral management of perimenopause and menopause-related sleep disturbance.
